Star Chart

“Yes… you need to be a good girl and collect the stars.” I smiled.
“Buy a present?” Russ looked curious. He just repeated what his sister said.
She brought her milk bottle to the kitchen that night and rushed to the chart.
“Clear my bottle, plate or cup when I finished. Kay read while she pointed to the chart. She was excited.
I noticed Kay’s behaviour improved immediately. I guess Russ doesn’t really understand what’s going on. He was a little excited when I gave him his star on his Good Boy book.

To answer Pudgy Mummy’s question, here’s where I record their stars and good behaviour. Kay enjoys checking out her stars and reading her good behaviour by herself over and over again.

Wow! Kay is really fast to pick up on the positive reinforcement.
Do you deduct the stars? How did you come up with the rubrics/ guidelines?
Perhaps I should try sthg like that with Robyn and Marcus. Though I think the chart will only survive for max 1 week before my kids tear it down. :p

Hi hi…
1. I don’t deduct stars. Kids normally get angry when you take star away. That’s what I learnt from a local documentary. If they are naughty, they go to their naughty corner.
2. Rubrics are based on what improvements are needed. Nothing special.
e.g. If you want meimei to say thank you. Give her a star when you catch her do that. Catch the right things.
3. I put the chart beyond their reach so it doesn’t get torn down.
4. Kay has reached 100 stars before. hahaha we got lazy and stopped. It’s just time to start again.

Another question. What do you use as to record the stars they have collected? Or on another chart?

Gee…thanks! So tiring to be consistent in writing the comments. Think I’ll give up before the kids tear the pages/ chart.
